Pentagon official told Newsweek the U.S. is seeking—pending White House approval—to deploy half an Army armored brigade combat team battalion, with as many as 30 Abrams tanks, to eastern Syria, where oil fields are under the control of a mostly Kurdish force involved in U.S.-led fight against ISIS.
